Frequently Asked Questions || Mavrakis Nutrition

I have several medical conditions— is this practice the right fit for me?

Glad you asked!  I dedicate regular continuing education time to keep up-to-date with various conditions, so that you don’t have to constantly be bouncing between providers when working on your goals around nutrition and relationship with food.

I particularly have specialized experiences working with folks with: eating disorders, PCOS, autoimmune disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, diabetes/ pre-diabetes, and various nutrient deficiencies. [and of course if there is an area outside of my scope/expertise, I’m happy to share resources with you for finding the best fit!].

I’m super busy. How realistic will this be?

I hear you! Most of my clients are young professionals, busy parents/caregivers, and/or students (high school and college), so I know how to support folks in busy seasons.

My goal is to make our session time worthwhile to give you back hours within your week to think less about the stressors of food, with simpler/easier strategies, so that you can show up for your life as your best self.

I have a history of disordered eating. Can I still also work on my [x] other medical condition with you?

Absolutely. I’m passionate about bridging the gap between disease management and disordered eating recovery.

This is a space where we can support your relationship with food alongside your health goals using gentle nutrition and other lifestyle supports, at a pace and plan that is individualized to you.

Which disordered eating symptoms / eating disorders do you support?

I help treat eating disorders including: Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating, ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), and OSFED (Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder).

I also often work with clients along the disordered eating spectrum who may not meet exact diagnostic criteria, but still experience harmful symptoms of disorder eating behaviors, including orthorexia.

My family member has [x] medical condition— I feel worried this makes me at higher risk. How can you help?

Preventative nutrition is a large part of the reason clients visit with me. Whether it is navigating family history of medical conditions (such as diabetes, high cholesterol, blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, or other conditions), or support in nourishment for feeling at your best, without using restrictive dieting, I’m here to support you.

What ages do you work with?

I see adults at any age, and adolescents (ages 12+).

Will this be covered by my insurance?

Many clients at my practice with in network insurance have fully covered nutrition counseling visits. However, all plans do vary and require verifying benefits.

I also provide a detailed guide to clients in verifying their insurance policies, whether in or out of network.

Self-pay options are available for clients who are out of network or do not have insurance coverage. I’m also happy to accept HSA/FSA cards for payment. Feel free to contact HERE if you have further questions on insurance.

What’s your ~*vibe*~? I also have some more questions before I schedule an appointment.

Sure, let’s chat! I offer free 15-minute intro calls where we can introduce ourselves and see if I’m a good fit for what you’re looking for. Feel free to hop on my schedule for one here.
